"Plain People"
Abraham Lincoln once said, "God must have loved the plain people: He made so many of them". I find this to just one more confirmation that God loves me. I also find this to be a reason for celebration. God takes us as we are, and although He loves us as we are, He brings out the best in all of us.
"Shout with joy before the Lord, O earth! Obey Him gladly; come before him singing with joy. Try to realize what this means--the Lord is God! He made us--we are His people, the sheep of His pasture" (Psalm 100:1-3)
I've heard it said that there are three kinds of people in all types of organizations--rowboat people, sailboat people, and steamboat people. Rowboat people need to be pushed or shoved along. Sailboat people move when a favorable wind is blowing. Steamboat people move continuously through the calm or storm. They are usually masters of themselves, their surroundings, and their destination.
The good news is that God loves us all equally and the ground at the foot of the cross is level, even for us plain people.
